DATAMATION Technology (M) Sdn Bhd, which is involved in document and pre-press imaging, has signed an agreement with InfraLogic ApS that will allow it to customise the Copenhagen, Denmark-based company’s pre-press workflow software to suit the operational needs of local customers.
Alex Wee, managing director of the Datamation Group of Companies, said the move would allow solutions to be tailormade for Malaysian users instead of requiring customers to fit their requirements around a fixed solution.
“Having this flexibility to customise the software gives us an edge over our competitors,” he said during an interview in Petaling Jaya last week. He added that the partnership would also help strengthen Datamation’s position as a leader in pre-press imaging systems in the country.
The software, called ControlCentre Enterprise, is a full-fledged pre-press automation software for newspaper and magazine production, and can manage distribution, print size, as well as plate and film production.
As part of the agreement, Datamation will be allowed access to ControlCentre Enterprise’s source code, Wee said.
Niels Andersen, managing director of InfraLogic, said there would also be a transfer of technology to Datamation engineers.
“We will provide the core functionality and transfer our know-how to Datamation, which will then adapt the software for local needs,” he said.
Wee said Datamation would be offering solutions to “several news organisations in Malaysia,” but declined to provide specific details. “We’re already supporting customers in Singapore and we’re adapting the system to be able to handle Chinese character sets in preparation to enter markets such as Taiwan and China later this year,” he said.
